Alrite, alittle update! hmm.. uni started le! 1st wk breezed thru jus liddat. this was also the add drop week. As i am onli taking one core subj this sem, i had to take 4 electives or more to haf a "fruitful" sem ahead.. Got "malay" and "accounting" from the ntu "balloting" results.. managed to add a CPE module abt opensource apps on the first day, luckily! after some nail biting refreshing of browswers and "quickest fingers first" activity, i managed to add one more, from the "much sought after" HP series! HP802 - working in the 21st century.. hope the lessons r okay :D

well, the main reason why i haf this post is actually to document my purchase of this:

ok, some updates:

watched astroboy wif ting :) nt bad la, quite sad tho.. astro was supposed to be a copy of the child of some prof who created him.. and the story is all abt his search for a place to belong..

anyway, hit some fuzzy yellow balls wif aaron ytd.. quite cool imo. tho the weather was kinda unbearable.. hit quite a few good balls down the line and crosscourt.. including a "return ace".. dunno y i cant perform well in the tennis coaching lessons leh.. maybe cos i am too "focused" on the actions? and keep missing e ball.. well, after all is said and done, still up to myself to see how and improve.. turning to online materials now that the beginner's course has ended :(

abit sick today, tink a mixture of factors involving playing tennis under the hot sun, poor environmental conditions at home (some sort of renovations, lots of dust) and my mum coughing beside me all day.. will turn in early tonite for more rest ba?

sianz.. yet another weekend flies by.. met up wif zg and aaron ytd for dinner and some get tgt time.. went over to the asia civilization museum aft that.. nth much leh.. except for some weird ppl dressed in weird clothing... well, i did earn myself that ONE ~~pathetic~~ cup of ~~fruit taste-alike~~ barcadi cocktail.. :S oh well.. we did haf a teeny weeeny bit of fun here and there.. i sorta left early :-# tiring day for me ba? tennis realli sapped alot of my strength.. played frm 9 to 1240... abit crazy, i noe... but tis coming week is the LAST lesson le :( aft tat mus find ppl to play outside instead le... sad sad sad!

ahh.. finally finished watching an old anime, the prince of tennis.. quite nice.. sorta a happy ending.. the team won in the end (bleah, always happens, but its a crowd-pleasing kind of ending found in every 'entertainment' media i guess?)..

booo.... ran the human race today.. kinda slow tho, cos didnt realli train tis time round.. only managed a 1hr 5min timing.. but heck, pretty decent considering that i was stuck in the crowd for the first 30min or so of the race.. hahas.. i am sooooo gonna run later next time round, to avoid the "human traffic" :X the quality of the run was quite good tho, lots of water points and friendly marshaller to guide and cheer the runners on.. no to mention FREE icecream and coffee and stuff, things that u wud to pay for at other runs. but i din go for it, was put off by the atrociously long queue of kiasu singaporeans.. marginal cost > marginal benefit in play eh? hahas..

when wif ting to mdis to look look see see abit.. the facility is kinda small and run down tho, but i guess its nt bad by private school standards :X

alrite, met up wif bren ytd at amk hub.. been 1mth plus since we met! walked abit, and watched harry potter & the half blood prince at cathay. the story more or less stuck to the original book but, quite abit of the stuff got cut off.. for eg, the ball match which harry got banned by snape.. and also quite a few "memories" regarding the life of tom riddle (aka voldemort) which was kena omitted. not sure if it was actually filmed, and was cut by the local censors or was it even filmed at all? but at 2hrs 40min or so, the movie is rather long and draggy already, a feature characteristic of book-to-motion picture adaptations. Quite a cool movie, with some cool effects and chio bu to ogle at (emma watson?) :)

Alrite, a little conclusion to my wsc FOC last wk. it has been a pleasant 5days with the people at the camp.. lots of cohesive activities and we learnt alot of stuff abt the needy, be it well-abled or physcially / mentally handicapped. I even learnt abit of sign language! but the take-home message for me was that helping doesnt need much, sometimes just being there can be enough.

went to marina barrage ytd.. quite a cool place, being a flood barrier, reservoir-creator and an entertainment spot all in one.. but the place is quite ulu tho, a 10min bus ride frm marina bay mrt station.. went to suntec and bugis afterwards..

alrite, its been a "fruitful" wk for me, having completed my long time desire (of 3 mths) of kboxing at hougang plaza kbox :) and playing badminton (another long long no do kinda thing), playing pool and meetup wif gl (who jus returned frm taiwan for a short reunion b4 flying back for his army attachment T_T ).

speaking of work, everyone seems to be leaving bah.. feeling abit jaded too, but glad that i am oni the 3rd person to "leave" the shop aft the original shop ic (who got transferred) and my "training buddy". cant imagine the agony of the one who is left behind (and the clueless area manager who rues the consequences of a chain-effect-sque staff exodus..) lol. was a pleasant 3wks of work here.. tho the new staff are pretty pleasant too, but nth beats the original team ba? :X well, off i go to prep for work, the 2nd last day! and i am so looking forward to the orientation events happening next wk!

out ytd wif jw to tampines to hunt for pressie for my fren's upcoming 21st.. nth much changed in tampines since the last time i been there..

watched ICE AGE 3D afterward in the evening. not bad.. the 3D experience in the cinema is quite epic too, considering the experience i had in the omnitheatre N yrs ago.. the storyline is pretty crappy.. no real big adventure, just little bits here and there.. but the comedy effect is without doubt bah? gd movie to watch and laff it off, but the 3D effects price tag is a tad too heavy.. not bad a movie in general tho. :)

watched transformers on monday aft work. was quite a cool movie ba, loads of special effects and all.. not to mention the "main attraction", the "boobie traps" of megan fox.. tho i found it a tat too gross ba, cos they seem to pop out at every single scene involving her..

went to qf's belated 21st bday bash, was kinda weird la, cos kinda outnumbered and the "army" friends gang were more passive compared to his other friends, so we just kept a quiet profile, tho david did manage to somehow chat up wif qf's family. LOLS

kinda surprised today.. sharon popped by during lunch time for a while.. ohoh! there is tis food fair at compasspoint.. nt bad.. BUT HOR! there is this REALLY irritating aunty that set up shop near my outlet.. keep "long xu tang lai, tang chu bao bing lai, muah chee lai, tang chu bao bing lai".. from b4 we open shop till late at night! damn irritating..... feel like taking my shoe to throw at them.. well, it was my first day at work at this new place.. nt bad la, the ppl r quite friendly.. fitting in quite well.. only grouch is the thumping headache i now got, either frm the repeating lady gaga tracks of the strong glare frm the spotlights..

Was briefed on the usual stuff.. reminds me of my previous job in bata.. retail line, living under the mood of customers. gets frustrating at times too.. well, only for slightly more than 1 month! :D and.. i can get my laptop! woots! :D

some quick updates:

monday - went out wif jw to look for job.. some exhibition thingy.. hope we can get it lor, sounds quite "relaxed".. but oni for a few days nia.. watched movie at Cathay aft that, "BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE". really cool movie with lots of slashing and action.. the female lead (supposedly a korean) portrays saya (from the manga Blood+) quite successfully. The whole story builds up to a "hastily done" last fight wif the story big bad boss, onigen. Whats missing from this is perhaps the relationship factor from the anime and manga with both her adopted family and her loyal servant (who was a young guy in the anime?) Not bad a movie to watch, but if u r a hardcore fan of Blood +, pls avoid this :D

Tuesday - took out the last two stitches of my gums! FREE AT LAST! went for a nice 6.5km run aft that to "Celebrate"! stamina drop quite abit le.. sad.. mus train back!!!!! also, mus lose weight so that can get selected into my preferred sports CCA :D sent a couple more online application for jobs, and... I got my green light from MOE for "provisional relief teaching"! lol.

hmm, went to suntec for the pc show again ytd, wif jw. still crowded, and the prices r still kinda normal, nth too special for me to wanna splurge on my new laptop, guess i will be deferring the whole thing till the uni's pc show bah? hopefully can get a gd student price bargain or something there bah? anyway, i bought a router!!! finally!!! aft 2yrs or so of procrastinating. 29bucks de wireless N router from aztech. quite worth i feel, can use internet anywhere in my house alr. but the setting up was abit of a hassle for me, probably due to my com settings.. and my mac notebook oso gave me some problems, which further reinstated my belief that i shud forsake the apple os and move on to windows.. hais. stilling finding a job, with no luck.

been a busy week for me bah, went to remove stitches and my other 2 wisdom teeth on tuesday. Hope it all turns out to be fine and i can go back to my daily activities! :D

Went to the cohesion tat encik tama organised for us at orchid country club, vry nice of him ba, so no matter wat oso mus show face abit.. had bowling and lunch there. pics can be found on my facebook :) Went to the PC SHOW aft wards and got myself a set of pc speakers, cos my current ones are dying. a downgrade, but nt tat i realli care. as long music can come out un-distorted, i am fine :)

as for friday.......... I AM OFFICIALLY JOBLESS LE! AKA -----> O. R. D. ! haha! well, still feels abit surreal to me now.. the feeling.. nth too special but its a significant step out of a life that i haf somewhat enjoyed in the past 2yrs. i am on my own again, back to civilian life. Gotta find a part time job!

alritey, back frm an outing wif bren, 3rd time meeting him in 7 days! haha! well, caught "Terminator Salvation at GV PS. The starting was abit slow i felt, almost fall asleep! but as it got to the middle, started to get abit more interesting, i tot it cud haf been the lack of memorable scenes and gd & solid bg music bah? any other theories on that, ppl? special effects were cool and all, but wat realli caught me as the highlight of the show was the struggle of the cyborg character, torn between his human mind and robot body.. christian bale as john conor did bring some "glam" into the show, but i feel the whole thing reminds me alot of a movie acted by tom cruise awhile back, the "minority report".. the highlight of the show came wif Arnie's brief comeback as the T800, realli cool-ish! good show for e fan boys, or if u can withstand the starting 15-30mins or so of plot..

Shopped at sim lim aft the show and got meself a new philips earpiece wif mike for the com! haha.. wanna find someplace to test test leh...

woke up bright and early for the Passion Run today! vry tired.. but ok la.. completed the race in a little more than an 1hr 30min net time. tho our gun finish shud be pretty bad as we started as much at 40min aft the initial gun. hahaz..

went swimming at tampines swimming complex aft tat. got a bit of cramps, funny, they oni come aft i haf finished relaxing.. :S horrible anyhow.

an expensive 2 piece chicken meal at bbq chicken ($14!!!) and a movie at shaw.

watched night in e museum 2. nt bad, ben stiller again. abt hwwe shud gif up big money to follow our own interests. a load of bullshit in this economically weaken world but quite an okay movie, i guess.. a little overstay of welcome tho.

well well, today was all abt slacking off and completing 1/2 of my supernatural season 4! went out wif bren ytd to tamp and visited the much publicised tamp 1 mall, which wasnt much bah, if u ask me.. the uniqlo store is oso kena normal, like a upsized giordano, wif higher prices.. tho, some of the anime-themed shirts do look quite appealing, if nt for the hefty price tag.. :(

caught up wif bren alot bah.. nice to know that we r all doing well, esp wif the ord-spirit coming out of him alr!

had dinner at cafe cartel (got sick of waiting for ric and his membership card) and had this humongous pork rib thingy! yum! but feeling guility la... lucky tml got run.. if nt sureeeeee fat till dunno where one.

alrite, went to the NTU MA the other day for the pre-enrollment checkup. realised, hey, this school is FREAKING far from my hse T_T may haf to live in hall aft all bah? see hw bah.. proceeded on to AH afterwards, and checked on my wisdom teeth. after a long wait at the clinic and an even longer wait at home for the appointment dates, its settled alr.. will be plucking teeth on 2nd and 9th June.. Wish me luck.. hope its nt tat painful, given the professionalism of the doctors. XD

meeting brennan tml! tampines 1! Soo wanna go to look at the much hyped new mall, esp wif the uniquillo (how u spell it again?) and its brand of clothing, nt that my stock of newyorker shirts frm germany are letting me down, but gotta explore new territory! :D

well, back in sg for two days alr.. and wat can i say, the weather is HAWT here! sweating at every given opportunity! went out wif jun wei ytd to bai bai at the si ma lu guan yin temple, as a form of "return" for the blessing that i have gotten b4 i left. went ahead to the new mall at bugis area, for my first movie back in sg! and its "Angels And Demons", adapted from a book by dan brown. the storyline is abt a crisis happening in the vatican, the pope has jus passed awy and a cult has emerged with a threat to destroy the vatican wif a stolen mega bomb (some antimatter thing). The story line twists and turns and every dialogue leads to the unraveling of yet another piece of the puzzle. And when u least expects it, the plot twists again. An awesome movie, from an awesome book with great acting by ewan mcgregor and tom hanks.

nua-ed at home the whole day, minus the haircut i had at hg mall.. now my hair is short again T_T oh well, caught up wif my bleach episodes alr.. an easy task, given that the storyline has reached an intense stage with major fighting between the soul society and los noches. oh well, tml is going to be busy busy.. MA at Ntu in the morning and DA at AH in the afternoon :( cant slp late le!

berlin, munich and home sweet home!

well.. back in the comfort of my home and typing on my desk. endured a grueling 12hr ride all e way frm munich.. but b4 that, let me update abit on my berlin and munich trips first..

went to berlin on the 13th wif the dudes. spent a whooping 42euros on the train tix alone! was a vry vry difficult decision to make whether or nt to go but i tot, since i was alr in germany and it was an off day, heck, go for it! and man, berlin didnt disappoint.. I was greeted by a gigantic glass train station, a whole 5 storeys of it at berlin, one of the most if nt the most majestic i have ever seen. Berlin's grounds frm then on is littered with culture and history, things that you have to read up to noe, from the bundestag, brandenburger tor, embassies of the various allied forces that participated in the WW2, majestic churches, museums and last but nt least the berlin wall. took lots of pics here and there and left our mark on the berlin wall itself! tho, it wud probably be repainted and washed awy in the period of months but, at least its an experience and i was actually dumb enuff to buy a piece of the berlin wall back wif me.. cost a freaking 5euros but for memories sake ba!

was at munich ytd as part of a stopover b4 flying back to sg.. didnt haf much time b4 the connecting flight but we managed to cover quite abit of ground, minus the entering of musuems, i guess.. of cos, our first venture in bavarian ground, being a rushed affair, wasnt as complete as we had wanted, esp without the beautiful castle in the munich outskirts which the disney snow white castle was based on. perhaps, this wud warrant a 2nd trip to germany?

anyways, back in sg le.. the last day in horsten was abit emo-ish for me... packing and remembering how we came.. 2mths, nt a short time but yet, nt long enuff to explore the whole germany. it has been a good experience for me, both in and outside of military work. A good closure to my national service bah :)

oh well, on my way back to camp now.. Taking bullet train! Been a long day today, with a breakfast buffet at intercon's signature restaurant. We then visited heideberg and its old and dilapidated castle. Nothing special tho, other than its massive structure and torn down architecture. Then it was off to shop again at frankfurt. Nothing much other than loads of travelling ba? Off goes kenneth back to sg, my turn soon ba? Less than two weeks le! Anticipating!

now at frankfurt main! Reporting live from the intercontinental hotel frankfurt! This is probably the first and last time i will be staying at such a posh 5star hotel! The service and facility is not bad and its really prominent smack right next to the river maine in the city centre. Sharing a room with ah leslie for the trip. Abit sad la, can only stay a night here.. Back to horsten tml! :( prep for the next taking over whirlwind by the end of the week and its home sweet home for us! Today wasnt much ba, with a 6hour or so bus ride from camp down to frankfurt. And a chinese lookalike salmon lunch at a german restaurant. Followed by a really boring bus ride tour of the city, still prefer walking! The driver drove too fast for us to take decent pics of the places.. Had abit of walking in the town area and bought something at newyorker again! Tml :will be better!

watched finish love or bread ytd night. Nice show! Its about the female lead who is a hardworking girl that works a few jobs to feed her family and support her love interest in his studies. On her last day of work before flying off to meet her boy, she meets the male lead who is at first look, the scum of the universe. she saves him from impending doom from the loansharks and rushes off to meet her prince, only to be rejected! So her story with the male lead continues in entanglement and love starts to develop with the usual 3rd party stuff and best frens of both sides getting together in a typical taiwanese fashion. :) not bad a drama, counting down to back to sg!

followed the training troops to outing today. First was to the munster panzer museum which was really a big warehouse of tanks and we took lots of pics of tanks past and present. Will upload some to facebook soon ba. Aft that it was off to hamburg for some shopping. Hung around wif the arms guys cos dear mr leslie was confined. Went around walking for shopping, wasnt really much ba. We saw this guy carrying a huge cross and shouting stuff, abit like the bremen lunatic but we didnt stay around long enough to see him get caught this time. Also, there was this huge water cooler thingie in the city centre for ppl to take a drink. Cool stuff but forgot to take a pic of it. The water tastes diff tho, abit like the newater ba? Took pics here and there, and ended up back at hb munchen for dinner. Had a half chicken dinner this time round and we shared a warm apple strudel. All the fine dining was worth the buck :) we ended with more shooting of the bank. And we met this to-be-married girl who was paddling some wares to pool money for her wedding. Funny ba? Dun think singaporeans will be open enough to do that? A tiring day ba. Off to sleep i go :)

went to hamburg today with the guys in a big group. Walked arnd with leslie and the medics, and explored the whole city. Very tired, we managed to even climb up a cathedral, the st petri's church which is the oldest parish church in hamburg! :) had pork knuckle german style. And lots of sight seeing, including at the infamous red light district of hamburg, the reeper bahn. Which turned out to be a let down.. Nothing much or perhaps we left too early ba? a little more on bremen trip! Alright, it was kinda cool la, the whole travelling part. We were relating the towns to our local counter parts like kembangan, toa payoh all day long. And i finally had my first blood in shopping at newyorker which was 2 6.95 euro t shirts. Cool eh? Bucholz, the stopover was more of a neighbourhood feel kinda town, more concentrated than bergen tho, in terms of facilities. :) the walk back from dorfmark to the pickup point was so dark! Cant see a thing, lucky got the torch light, if not sure die! Haha! today, we had a end of frame dinner! Everyone mixed arnd and had loads of fun guessing quizes and playing forfeit. :) going to hamburg on wed! Yay! :)

got a day off today! Went bremen! Was quite good la, tried this new route which saved alot of travel expenses! Only 7, down from the previous 26. :) was a long ride which brought us back to hannover! As a stopover only tho, but we managed to squeeze in enough time to bring han kiong for a hannover brief tour. :) off to bremen we went then, quite a beautiful place! Lots of shopping, with leslie around. And some sightseeing. Mainly stuff that ryan had showed us last week, but as it was easter sat, got some special stuff. Like this weird dude who was shouting in front of a church. :) so funny..

Went to visit some of the sleazy pubs which were much hyped by some of the older staff whom i shall not name here.. Basically, they didnt disappoint in terms of the disgusting, old, fat and wrinkled ppl inside. Well didnt stay more than 30s in all the pubs combined to find out. :) yawn, waiting to go back to sleep after the cook house duty. =P

haha, everyday also watch soccer sia.today was bayern munich vs barcelona. An exciting first half in which barcelona pumped in 4 goals. Barca totally dominated in the first half sia. Tho, it was quite diff after the break as barca ran out of steam and munich created several chances which they failed to capitalize. Ok la, barca are almost a shoo in for the semis alr. :) hope man u can buck up too :) tml, long day!

watched red cliff two wif the guys today. Used a projector to screen the show. Really got the gv feel ba. :) the show itself is very slow, sort of draggy, all leading up to the final water battle. Sort of know the story tho, cos of previous readings abt the 3 kingdoms. Pity that this historic battle did not hold any significant result on the final outcome of the 3 kingdoms... But kudos to the genius of zhou yu and zhu ge liang. :)

And the weird entanglement of a love story that happened between her and edward cullen. But the twist is tat edward is a vampire, and the dangers and temptations that they go thru, quite beautiful. the weather here started to turn warm le, did a rough 6km run in the camp. Quite ok la. Easy to get breathless while running tho.. They got a soccer ball today! So we jus started to play. Quite special ba, cant seem to sweat much de, no matter how much running we do. Well, abit sian, cos i got cramp. :( did a short warm up but a short rest and the cold weather cooled down for me again. Sian! Ok la. Lots of running! Good exercise to keep fit, getting fat with all the high carb food! Should avoid all kan tan liao!

hmmm. Sort of a slow day today, like every tuesday.. Not much work. Spent today revisiting bu neng shuo de mi mi. Still has the best soundtrack ever for a chinese movie. Brings back lots of memories of my tekong days too. How i listened the soundtrack to sleep, etc. After so long, my feelings are still the same, the ending was too rushed and the logic wasnt there. Well, its still a fine movie! :) hmmm, went to see the night firing. Quite cool but the thing was bloody loud, can feel the immense shockwave even tho i am more than 500m away. Now my bunk door also shaking sia.. What power! :) off to sleep i go, without the blessing of my daily drama dose, and yet another day of reading twilight :)

today was quite slow after all the feista of ytd. Managed to catch two movies on ryan's lappy. One was kungfu panda and another was the critically acclaimed the wrestler. Kungfu panda was a hilarious cartoon about main character, panda po who was a kungfu fan who couldnt fight for nuts. But he was somehow chosen to be the legendary dragon warrior to fight evil through wat seemed like a fluke. The process was funny and a process of selfdiscovery and will over destiny. Good movie, lucky i didnt miss it. :) the wrestler was a more solemn movie, about the life of an over the hill, how he was condemned to wrestling and living the big time even aft he had a heart bypass.. Showed the fragility of the fame and sleazy life they led. Also revealed the fakeness of wrestling. A good movie in another way, something to touch the heart and move crowds. :)

ah! Woke up bright and early today to set off to hannover! Took cpt david's ride out to bergen. Then we caught the bus to celle train station. It was one hectic journey, for its our first unsupervised excursion in germany, jus us four young adults. Lol. After an initial fumble over ticket for e train, we managed to get on and reach hannover! Woots! 9am and boy, it was COLD! Haha. But the reality really hit, we are in germany! :) we went down the hannover red line which basically covered all the tourist spots la, saw a couple of churches, the town hall, the hannover 96 stadium, and took alot and i mean ALOT OF PICTURES OF EVERYTHING. Lol. As they say pictures speak louder than words, so i shant lor sor too much here. But a worthy note was that leslie picked up girls and we sort of did a good deed in germany. Tired, and i think leslie is waiting for me to finish to off the lights. Lol! Cheers!

Went out wif Hm and Edmund today for our last meetup, and also the conclusion to two wks of "saying goodbyes and farewells" with my frens.. Well, for us, its a happy occasion as we have less than 100 days liao! 90+ days! still remember the time jeremy and qf were damn irritating at niam-ing abt their 100days then 2 digit days.. funny how time flies and this is our turn.. lols..

we played pool at amk hub, after edmund finally got here wif his "slightly"~~-under-40min~~ late. =P ok la.. kena thrash again by hm, same situation since the last time we had pool.. :S mus improve sia~! anyone wanna train me? :D Bought a long sleeve shirt at this song &song brothers shop which sells ~~probably fake~~ branded shirts at ridiculously low prices.. got the shirt at 3bucks?! 3bucks cant even get u a char siew rice now at a food court (fyi its 3.50)! freaking cheap! well.. guys n gurls can go there take a look lor.. the shop looks quite lok kok but the stuff look like real bargains, wif adidas jackets/singlets selling for a fraction of its original price too.. :)

Met bren at Tamp Mall today.. str8 aft his duty, was kinda tough on him la.. can see his puffy eyes and dark circles coming out.. hais.. ate at mac for lunch and went on to watch Suspect X at GV Tamp.

Quite a gd movie, the plot is tat of a detective story, tho the much-hyped battle of minds between the Science and Math geniuses was a hoax.. the "battle" didnt really occur but the intriguing storyline, great accompanying OST and gd looking acting cast kept my eyes and mind glued to the show.. not bad la, tho cud be better :) bren dozed off during the movie a couple of times la, feel so bad :( but quite glad that cud meet up wif him again b4 i fly.. so gonna miss my buddies lor!

Met up wif leonard and han teng today tgt wif leslie @ cityhall.. Leslie was late, AS USUAL.......................... (lol!) Well, been so long liao since i saw the two.. other than the times they came over to gedong for SAF related tasks, the last outing was... May last yr sia! Anyway, we walked over to Marina Square and we saw this media fiesta thing going on.. and, guess who we saw?! MICHELLE CHIA!! quite chio in real person oso.. and there were also the other michelle (zhuang mi xue) and fiona xie backstage, waiting for an interview i guess...

We then went on to find Sakae Sushi... Leslie led us a big round arnd MS (crossing the media fiesta a couple of times, leading to us tinking if he was trying to sneak peaks at fiona xie or the 2 michelles).. When we finally arrived at Sakae, we ordered our respective stuff la.. and took lots of pics of each other on our cameras.. lame.. considering that we didnt take any grp pics.. lols.

Watched "Watchmen" at GV. pretty lame show.. sort of an anti-hero movie, compared to all those marvel stories.. As we all noe, the era of "comic heroes" was that of many wars, and the comic superheroes were actually manifested as a relief to the situation in the forms of captain america, superman and many others. this main story is a counter to those theories, showing hw "caped" heroes cud fail so badly.. vry negative and "Graphic" scenes.. Though a more realistic feel to the whole superhero genre, it is not "viewer friendly" and it certainly deserves the m18 for the culture shock that it delivers. Decent movie with a draggy storyline (2hr 30min)..

We sort of split aft e show.. went on to the Guan Yin Temple at Waterloo to pray (in lieu of the trip), nice of ht to accompany me.. took a long bus ride back from bugis aft that.. Met Ric at KFC Hougang Mall for dinner and some chit-chat abt old times, his gf and our ns life..

Ahh... yet another rainy day.. countdown to germany! 6days! hais... i guess sending off the dudes had an effect on me bah.. sort of getting into the mood alr.. feeling emo-ed but then some comments on my fb, make me feel abit ZZzz... But how to not feel emo when u noe u r leaving this place.. its like a leaving comfort zone de feeling, esp wif all the ppl having the "last meetups"..

Speaking of meetups, met sharon for dinner today.. Cos we chatted abt this funky pizza outlet in SK that she went to wif her family.. But wow, it was actually this famous Jalan Kayu Street!! and the pizza is SPizza! Didnt noe that Jalan Kayu was actually so accessible via the SK LRT line tho! The LRT was abit nostalgic too, think i passed by it while on the Newton Active Run Route.. Well, this is some whole new area for me.. and the area seems realli hip, bustling wif eateries (Prata houses, Western Food etc)..

The Ursula pizza - Some leaves thingy wif smoked salmon.. nt too bad.. but nt cheesy enuff for me :(

Met up wif the guys @ Cineleisure today. Arrived early (which i shudnt haf..) @ 1245 ahead of the 1300hrs stipulated by Mr Leslie. But Mr Leslie was LATE.. for abt 30min.. So i kinda went shopping at centrepoint and the shops arnd first.. ZR came on time at least..:) Well the worst was that qf overslept! only after our persistent calling and wake-up sms did he finally wake up to join us aft our lunch @ subway.. Ate the Turkey Trio, 6inch.. Gone were the days that I could finish a Foot-long.. Losing appetite cos of something on my mind as well.. At least the meal didnt haf that great an impact on my wallet :) only set me back abt 7bucks..

Carried on to Partyworld Orchard.. Brings back memories of that Oct Gathering.. Miss QX, Jon n e rest.. Too bad MK cudnt make it today cos of camp commitments.. Sang quite a bit of songs.. Realised tat perhaps I shud train my higher pitch voice abit more... sounds better than crooning wif the "puberty-broken" throat voice.. wells.. lets see how.. I have a feeling the next K session will be ~~lightyears.. wait its a calculation of distance not time..~~ a vry vry long time awy... Had loads of fun :)

Next was dinner at Ashton's Grill @ The Cathay. The queue was uber long and the wait for the food equally frustrating but i tell u.. the food is definitely worth every cent u paid for (not that it was alot of money).. Perhaps if time is really money then this meal would certainly be vry expensive.. but a decent western meal at this restaurant would only set u back 7bucks (or more, depending on your order). However, do note that they charge for plain water, little price to pay given that a meal here is quite value for money. We tried to take a grp photo at the lobby of The Cathay, but was shooed awy by the ~~lazy~~ vigilant security guard...

QF, leslie and I then went on to swensens for dessert, yumz! Earthquake at swensens! Pics of the outing is available at facebook.

Off to Changi airport with leslie aft that to send off the 2nd Grp leaving for Germany.. So fast.. the reality has set in.. Next will be us..... last 7 days in singapore before we leave..

On a side note: I feel that the new ~~and improved~~ SBS single deck buses are not as good / comfortable as the old ones.. not just becos of a sentimental attachment (took alot of the old ones during my poly days), but also becos that they allow more ppl to sit and can efficiently carry more people (even though the walking space was narrower). The main probs that I faced as a commuter of this new vehicle are as follows:

1) The queue tend to bottleneck at the "stairs" area as many are unwilling to move up to the elevated step to allow more ppl to board.

2) lack of seats as more standing space is allocated. And the associated lack of "hand grips" for the more vertically challenged population. (hand grips are now restricted to
the limited pole grips and the "hanging grips" that some may find difficulty reaching for..)

3) aircon distribution problems. aisle seats tend to get too little air con, window seats get too much and the air flow near the aisle is kinda bad (i actually sweated on the bus)

4) lack of TV mobile units = no entertainment

5) Hard seats compared to the comfortable cushion seats of the old.

Just some rants.. dun take the comment to heart, ppl!

Shag! Just got back from the newton active run held in sengkang.. 10km "only" tho.. nv realli train so, performance was kinda bad.. :( 1hr 01min.. anyway pics are available on facebook.

Quite a good experience.. but as feb ends, time to look at my "progress" over the past few mths:

hmm.. Slow increase ba.. Nov- Dec was the hols period, so i kinda chionged every other day.. but january i realli slacked, no thx to all e festivals as well as in camp commitments.. Tho, i felt remorseful in feb aft all e snacking on CNY goodies (as well as that darn buffet lunch who was actually quite gd).. hope to continue and hit 8Kcal every mth from now on bah, at least till Uni.. then see how it goes from there...

had lunch at mac, took the MEGA MAC! wahs, quite filling, even if u dun upsize, in fact, i tink its more worth to haf a med-size mega mac meal than a upsized normal meal.. the difference isnt much.. abt 50cents i tink? but u get more meat, less useless carbs / oils in the the fries and coke.. tried the blackforest mcflurry too! sweet but the chewy / hard chocolate..

After wat seems like a thousand yrs of waiting for sharon to get ready, we finally met at the mrt.. tho, halfway, she went back to get her specs -.-" went on to sls without her to get my techie stuff :)

Caught K-20 at GV Plaza. Pretty good movie by Takeshi.. The plot is abt this expert bandit that steals and always escapes capture.. Takeshi plays a little known acrobat in a small-time circus.. Thru some deliberate plot, he was framed to be the bandit K-20 (sounds like some name of a Dog - K9?) So what will he do now? There is some excellent humor, cute child-stars and handsome actors / actresses.

had dinner at MOS burger then made our way to orchard hotel area, to search for a sweet spot to watch the villa vs chelsea match.. we finally settled at Harry's Pub near hilton hotel.. the video quality was quite poor tho.. like as if they were streaming it off some china website (in fact, i noe some china websites that stream better quality without any lags).. chelsea held on to the 3 pts due to the brilliance of cech and the impotency of the villa strike force.. drank a glass of margarita lime only.. dun wan to start my whole allergic thing again.. but guess the sign r imminent now.. Alritey, was supposed to go out wif sharon today for movie, but she fell ill la.. so postpone lor.. :( well, didnt wan my "leave" to go to waste, so i went to POSB to do my atm card. my first reaction when i stepped into the branch office @ hougang was "WOAH", and my second was "WTF!". the queue was until the door there la.. tho the branch aint tat big, but wif all the winding in queue, you wud definitely expect less rite? but NO! so long la.. i thot, "hey nvm la, cfm vry fast one la, they shud be quite efficient" but boy, i was wrong T_T queued for 1hr 15min or so, before it was finally my turn! AHHH!!! armed wif only my mp3 and my phone, i stood in the queue.. tho there was this period of time tat i actually dazed into a daydream state till some kid running around had startled me, for me to realise, there is this huge gap in between me and the old lady infront.. lol.. guess i had enuff daydream practice in SAF liao :) ok la, managed to upgrade to the "GO!" card wif masters for my trip.. abit sad to part wif my old posb atm card la.. it was this grey one that they issued back when i first opened the account in secondary school.. then she had to cut the card up in front of me O.o (ok la procedures to destroy the card when its been retired).. hais. well, also updated my signature to my latest... (cant believe my old signature was soooo long and draggy.. guessed, i got lazier over the years..) hahaha!

then i walked arnd abit more and saw this "everything-oso-sell" kind of shop, u know, the kind that has this irritating repeating track that shouts out all their "lelongs" and "offers".. saw a travel power adapter! a little bit "lok kok" compared to wat leslie bought for himself but wayyy cheaper.. now, time to pack all e stuff into the bags :S

alrite, went out wif ah wan today @ yishun area. watched "Slumdog Millionaire" at Yishun GV. Went to the lib first cos we still had sometime b4 the screening.. the lib alot of ppl and nt enuff seats lor, nid to seat on the ground.. but the environment is quite gd, new library i guess? really a good conducive environment to spark interest in learning / reading unlike libraries of my time (old, dull places which had this solemn librarian staring at misbehaving kids).. oh well, i will try not to ponder too much over this, can "almost" feel the age gap alr... AHHHHHHHH!!!!!! well, the wireless access was cool, with great reception even tho i was kinda walking arnd. stable enuff to maintain msn and facebook! woohoo!

anyway, we proceeded to the theaters once the movie was abt to start. but, not to be racist or wat, the theater was dammmmnnnnnnnnnnnn crowded with indians.. i almost thot i had gone into the wrong cinema (cos GV yishun shows tamil movies, probably the only one to do so).. And the OST for the movie played b4 the show (filmed in india?) didnt help.. well.. it was ALMOST like watching an indian movie, relegated to reading subtitles wif "slanged" english pronunciation as well as the frequent tamil dialogue.. but that aside, its a GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT movie! inspiring tale with its funny parts as well as a romantic love story abt the underdog from the slums. a true rag-to-riches tale based on the once-popular who wants to a millionaire franchise.. The events are beautifully linked to how he could answer the questions posed, yet able to tell the tale of his life.. something which only can happen in fiction i guess? reall cool show! do catch it be4 it ends (still haf some time at the point of writing cos it jus opened this wk..)

Alright, had lunch at kunshin bo wif the guys flying up wif me in mar as part of a "cohesion" event planned by the commander. pity was that alot of the commanders didnt arrive.. not that they missed anything tho, the variety at kunshinbo was quite limited and the food quality wasnt the best..

Watched the Curious Case of Benjamin Button at eng wah suntec afterthat. pretty long movie, arnd 2hr 30min.. the movie showed the whole life of benjamin.. from the bg story of this big clock that runs backwards.. (similar to benjamin) to how he got abandoned at birth and his gradual growing up from a feeble "old" child to a young man and finally till his "death" as a baby (the clock was oso taken down and replaced..)

The storyline is filled with his adventures and emotional journeys. don't want to spoil it too much for those who wanna watch it, so i wun divulge any more spoilers :) but its quite a good movie to watch.. answers all the "what if i didnt grow old" qns and satisfies the kid that resides in all of us. :)

dental ffi

hmm.. went for dental ffi today.. no pics as per norm of my army life, cos of the cam ban.. :S well, i was super kiasu and went damn early (abt 25min b4 the scheduled timing).. and guess what, i was first in queue :) not much waiting time.. the doc did some cleaning and filled one of my tooth.. my teeth are damn sensitive now as a result of that... i tink cos he drilled one of my tooth to make the "hole" bigger so that it is easier to fill.. some more, the doc was frustrated cos the small drill couldnt break my tooth, then changed to a bigger drill bit.. i was like @_@ cos.. it looked real dangerous..

luckily he switched back aft a few drills (presumably did its job to break the stubborn thing).. but the feeling was abit funny tho.. not painful, more of ticklish but weirdish, cos can feel something was coming off... the cavity was quickly filled tho.. before i was told to rinse.. with minimal blood loss and (almost) perfect teeth *grin*

alrite.. today had my vaccination sia.. super sudden thing.. it was like *ring ring* on the phone and 2hrs later, i find myself staring at the needle at our medical centre.. since when did army become so efficient? lol.. well its gd la.. no nid to wait :) the jab wasnt painful in any accounts but, the vaccination is having some strange effect on me bah.. feeling abit itchy here and there.. i guess perhaps due to my "hypersensitive" skin or something.. :S oh well...... hope tml dun fall sick..

heres to the "brave" leslie who endured another 2 jabs (1 more to go next wk!) due in part to the silly mistake of the then bmt medic (who forgot to update his vaccination) and leslie's "willingness" to take part in this operation :)

alrite.. apart from the "not-so-minor" incident.. ytd was actually quite a good day for me.. went to visit bren at his hse :) travelled by bicycle.. the "to" trip was super tough man.. lots of up slopes and down slopes. challenging.. something i will try again when i polish up my biking skills or when i can find a better bike to aid me :) Chit chatted abit at his hse b4 heading down to a nearby (actually quite more like a stone-launching machine's throw awy <-- quite far) badminton court at amk/yck area. as wif most outdoor courts, we faced the problem of wind influence.. but it was still a fun game, tho we were hardly amateurish standards, lest say competitive.. bren was even joking that we cud train our shuttle run frm the pick of the shuttlecock (dig at the incessant need to pick it up due to missed shots). T_T

Had 'Lunch' (at 3?!) @ some temp market in a nearby estate. lemon chicken rice :) 2dollars only, which is pretty cheap for the current economy in which some not-so-filling snack from, say old chang kee, would probably cost the same price anyway...

Walked back, chatted somemore, over slurpee.. kinda brings back memories of before eh? (and i wonder why i was so chubby back then..) the trip back was smoother cos i took a much travelled route (most cars and buses pass by this area), hence less unnecessary climbing was done :) though, roadworks at some parts stilled tested my biking skills.. :)

Met up wif sherms and my mp 08/09 pals on sunday @ cine. We met up earlier to shop for sherm's pressie.. (b4 meeting him of cos!) Met up wif sherms and we had lunch at BBQ Chicken @ cine B1.

I ordered a charboiled chicken sandwich..

Looks good eh? the price is okay la.. for a set meal(drinks and soup).. arnd 15 wif gst..

Think I was caught abit off-guarded, oni managed a small smile.. (if it counts as one..) but wow, look at qf and sherm's hair!!! so long... hahaz... dun tink i will leave my hair that long aft my ord ba? nt convenient if i wanna run / swim or wat..

Aft the lunch, we watched the movie "bride wars" @ the cineleisure theatres.. quite a pleasant show.. with anne hathaway! about two childhood friends who dreamed of a Plaza June Wedding since young and how twisted fate caused them to pit against each other for the right to hold a grander wedding on the same date. We get to see nt only how their friendship sours, but oso how a relationship can turn bad as people change.. cool movie to catch wif ur chick (chick flick alert!) but for us, 6 guys, abit gay-ish..

they all zao-ed aft the movie -.-" (and i tot there were plans to sit arnd at a cafe for tea or something) lucky, eileen was free and nice enuff to drop by from her workplace for dinner @ orchard. :)

Stayed in yesterday night :) not bad an experience, good to stay in if u need that extra 1-2hrs of shut-eye but otherwise, utterly boring without my gadgets :(

Met up wif GL today after work.. nth much has changed bah. but so sad, he leaving for taiwan tml again le.. will oni see him in june liddat.. ok la, quite fast de ba. by then oso jus nice i come back from my overseas exercise too :)

we ate at QI JI in century sq.. quite a nice place.. abit like fast food concept done on asian cuisine like po piah, meesiam and nasi lemak, jus to name a few.. the price is pretty ex tho..

heya guys! its the OX year! went the usual visiting haunts over the past two days.. The eldest aunt's (dad side) for a gathering on the first day, and my uncle (mum side) for lunch on the second. both equally boring as the cousins sort of haf their own activities and life.. getting less lively.. well, at least the young ones (nephews and nieces) are having fun dressing up and seeing peculiar strangers (us?).. it seems tat as ppl grow older, they lose their ability to make frens.. remember how easily friendships were established over a block of sand (supposed sandcastle in the now-defunct sandpit playgrounds)? or how kids could just mingle together as if they were some long-lost friends? (now picture a grp of adult strangers at a cohesion event and u get wat i mean) haisss.. don't wanna ponder too much over this, but as with some simple quizes (like the one in which university students were unable to spot simple mistakes in a paragraph that young kids were able to), perhaps we should unlearn some skills and take some lessons from our young ones? hmm.. the way of seeing the world thru a child's eyes.. wat a subj it will be.. lol..

as usual for jack neo movies, it has pretty low educational value and tries too hard to "Connect" with common folk by "addressing" issues plaguing the society. (Extramarital R/s, Men flirting arnd and Teen Romance). But compared to previous movies, this pales in comparison as it lacks a punchline.. I feel that the storyline could work out more for a sitcom kinda drama, instead of a 2hr long movie.. Not something to spend your hardearned money on, its advisable to wait for the vcd release (should be quite fast?) and watch it comfortably in your home theatre system. :)

went to MMI @ NUS today wif leslie for dental x-ray.. met at Buona Vista MRT there.. and took bus 95 to NUS.. really nt a bad place sia.. vry cool-ish environment.. too bad i am nt fated to go there. haissss...

anyway, the xray itself was pretty quick, abt 5min? but i tink the combined waiting time of buses and queuing up for the thing took a hell lot of time... oh well.. such is life :S

on a side note: i finally bought the sansa clip aft much proscratination! so far, the major disappointment is its lack of the folder play option.... haiss... mus use playlist liaoo.. so not used to it la... haiss.. :( but the sound quality is really good for a 59 dollar mp3 player.. (heck, it even beats those overrated creative models) It packs the basic necessities of a modern mp3 player - fm radio, wma/mp3/ogg vorbis support, built in microphone. It comes with a striking blue LED display. the buttons are pretty well positioned, easily manipulated with a single hand (impt during workouts). the player oso comes with a detachable clip which is pretty useful for those pocket-less gym shorts or when u jus haf your pockets full. This is a real power contender in the tiny mp3 player war (creative's zen stone, ipod shuffle).

Features: 6/10 (Minimal stuff and i miss my folder select!!!!)
Sound: 8/10 (great, even with amateurish earphones)
Physical: 8/10 (small and portable, your only worry would be that it will go missing!)
Support: 9/10 (Sandisk has been doing a great job on this, releasing firmwares to keep even its older players new life with updates)
Price: 10/10
Overall 8.2/10 (Great MP3 player for beginners and people who want a secondary player for those workouts or when you just want to leave some extra baggage space.)

its the week-END again.. did nth much this wk laa... can finally understand how those ppl feel when they r so close yet so far to leaving the service.. its like u dun wanna do anything, lethargic lor.. peaceful week except that we had to go back on saturday in the morning for some escorting thingy.. dragged my life-less body to sungei gedong lor, wat else? ok la, consolation -> the peeps seem nice. not-so-consolation -> (aka jackpot but not for good reasons) haf to go back again tis coming sat again.. lols.. mus plan some aft camp activities wif the guys bah.. if not, like abit wasted..

anyways, looking at buying this mp3 player.. 2gb for 69bucks at challenger leh.. looks to be rather worth it.. any comments, guys?

aft the last blog post of disaster, i regret to update that more traffic misfortune has occurred on board my journeys, including traffic jam at SLE for 30min aft a chain traffic incident as well as mrt stalling (yet again) at cck....... but thank god that i wasn't directly involved, just one of the many commuters affected :)

anyway, its a suay suay first wk of jan 09 la.. lots of ppl getting sick, work getting screwed up and such.. 2009 got to a bad start but, it can only get better! :) must go pray at temple/church/mosque for good luck :)

on fri, met up wif bren at amk hub aft bookout.. had dinner and chit-chatted alot at mac.. the beef prosperity burger is BACK! as with the twister fries! *yum*

met the guys from camp for lan gaming at cyberdome. played Left4Dead.. keep kena pawned as humans sia.. zombies like ownage sia.. even when we use zombies oso pawn the human survivors.. lol.. anyone up for another round? :)

what a way to start my 2009..

went back to camp today.. running stamina got worse... haiz.. lose 1min 30s alr.. anyway.. wanna whine and complain abt my lousy day... lousy lunch.. long-ish afternoon and an eventful evening...

more abt the evening:

took the last bus outta camp cos of work committments.. 1830h bus.. but SIAN! the bus got lost somewhere and ended up coming at abt 1900.. :S thot, ok la, miss 30min of my little nonya special nia.. so i reached boon lay to take MRT back.. ON TARGET for 2015 reach home! budden... i guess lady luck / whoever it is, thot otherwise... THE FREAKING TRAIN BROKE DOWN AT CLEMENTI!!!!!! WAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then kena stuck for 10min b4 they "regret" to inform us that the train will be delayed.. WTH!!!!!!!!!! then the train crew manually opened the doors for us to exit, which was a freaking slow process.. i went out to take a bus at clementi.. took 165... then sian... A FREAKING BIG JAM at farrer road.. slow traffic for abt 20min+.. WTH! lucky no other events alr... haizzz.. hope tis is not an indication of my 2009 to come.. must go temple pray pray alr.. anyone?

alrite.. time to pen down some targets for the year..

based on some guidelines i read about, i am gonna restrict it to 3 vry specific ones to improve the "chances" of it being fulfilled.

here we go:

1. Get Driving License :)

2. Work Hard for Studies to obtain scholarship of some sort.

3. Pick up a hobby (still undecided over this.. music or sports.... urgh.)
